COP 29 Gender Day Event.

It was an honour to be a part of the Gender Day event at the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. Women and girls make up half of the world’s population, and it is essential that their voices are included in discussions on addressing the climate crisis. The Global South is disproportionately impacted by climate change and achieving true transparency requires amplifying diverse voices, particularly those from marginalised and underrepresented groups. Including the voices of women from the most vulnerable communities and the world's poorest nations not only ensures equality but also unlocks invaluable insights and untapped potential for sustainable solutions.

The event was opened by both hashtag#COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev and UN Climate Change Executive Secretary, Mr. Simon Stiell. It was moderated by Prof. Rangita de Silva de Alwis.
